This is a redesign for The Journal of the International Society for the History of Philosophy of Science. I went for a type only solution with a colour/graphic variable that would distinguish each issue.
The first book in this series - Gateway to Fourline - had already been designed by another designer so the look and feel was established. That designer was unavailable for book 2 so the publisher asked me to do the second cover.
Final cover with preliminary sketches below. The novel features a Michael Jackson impersonator. The challenge was to find of way of showing it without showing it. The image I used as source material is included as well.
Pollux is the small format paperback imprint for Lux éditeur. They wanted a stripped down design that was just typographic in two colours. The word "Pollux" in the background changes colour with each book.
